How to manage hot desking terminals
In this article we will see what they are and how to manage terminals with hot desking functionality.
The hot-desking terminal is a terminal whose association to a certain extension takes place only on-demand. When not associated with any extension, the terminal is connected to the switchboard but cannot receive / make calls (except for emergency numbers).
The hot-desking terminal can be used in all those scenarios where the user-terminal association does not have to be fixed over time (coworking spaces, call-centers with shift workstations, training rooms).
Like all other terminals, hot desking ones are also visible and editable from the terminals table (see How to manage user terminals in the VOIspeed UCloud switchboard). To add a new hot desking terminal, simply access this page and click the button to create a new generic terminal. In the screen that will open
HOW TO ASSOCIATE A HOT DESKING TERMINAL WITH A USER
Let’s now see how it is possible to make the terminal-user association. There are two possibilities
- from your UI: on the section of the terminals visible from the UI, simply click on the ‘+’ button (which can be enabled / disabled from the Settings -> Appearance section). A message will appear containing the service number to be typed on the terminal so that it is associated with the user in question. When you want to disassociate the terminal (because you have completed use and do not want to leave a terminal free to make calls in your name), just click with the right mouse button on the corresponding terminal icon from your UI;
- directly from the telephone: in this case you must already know the number to call (service number 980 followed by the user PIN). To disassociate the terminal, simply enter the same service number again.
